FIRST-TIME JOBLESS CLAIMS HIT 440,000, JOB CREATORS NETWORK REACTS

The Department of Labor revealed the number of first-time unemployment claims was 440,000 last week.

Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN), released the following statement:

“Small businesses are continuing to suffer from a worker shortage thanks to the Democrats’ overly-generous unemployment benefits.  These benefits, which were crammed into the Democrats’ $1.9 trillion stimulus bill, are incentivizing people to stay at home instead of rejoining the workforce.  President Biden is completely oblivious to the economic fallout of his far-left policies and is actually calling for an additional $4 trillion in government spending.  His American Families Plan is Orwellian because it will replace the autonomy and initiative of individuals and families with a cradle-to-grave system of government control, as Secretary Yellen laid out this week.

“Expanding government. Gas lines. Higher prices.  If this reminds you of the Carter years, you’re not alone.  JCN was the first to draw links between Biden and Carter, and we’re seeing that connection grow every day.  The handwriting is on the wall: Biden needs to back off and let small businesses – not government – lead our economic recovery.”

In March, RealClearPolitics published Mr. Ortiz’s op-ed, Biden’s Presidency Is the Modern Version of Jimmy Carter’s. To read it, click here.

In April, JCN released a backgrounder, “Biden and the Democrats’ War on Small Business.” The backgrounder summarizes the Democrats’ job-killing agenda in four areas: taxes, the minimum wage, lockdowns, and the PRO Act. To read it, click here.
