Job Creators Network Reacts to Biden Executive Order on Promoting Competition

Washington, DC (July 9, 2021) — Today, President Biden will sign an executive order that includes 72 initiatives he wants over a dozen agencies to undertake to promote competition throughout the U.S. economy.

Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN)released the following statement:

“President Biden’s executive order is a grab-bag of political priorities that will have mixed results. Some provisions, such as relaxing occupational licensing requirements that disproportionately burden military spouses and supporting healthcare price transparency, have long been backed by small businesses and JCN, though we’d prefer them enacted legislatively. Others, such as regulating internet termination and in-flight WiFi fees, meddle in the free market and will have unintended consequences that may raise prices for all consumers. More broadly, Biden is talking out both sides of his mouth on promoting competition, signing today’s executive order while also pushing for historic tax and regulatory increases that would significantly harm America’s competitive, free-market economy. The pro-competition provisions announced in today’s executive order shouldn’t distract from Biden’s far larger efforts to crush small businesses under the weight of dramatic new taxes and labor regulations.”
