Job Creators Network Reacts to Delay of $600 IRS Reporting Requirement

Alfredo Ortiz, president and CEO of Job Creators Network, released the following statement in response to the IRS delaying Democrats’ $600 earnings reporting requirement for another year:

“Small businesses and ordinary Americans should breathe a sigh of relief that the IRS is delaying President Biden’s $600 tax reporting requirement that would cause painful tax surprises, complications, and audits. JCN commends Rep. Jason Smith, House Ways and Means Chairman, for his work in opposing this unworkable new tax rule and calls on Congress to follow his direction to repeal it entirely so small businesses don’t have it hanging over their heads beginning next year.

“President Biden and Congressional Democrats’ new tax sics the IRS on every small business owner, freelancer, gig worker, independent contractor, or employee who tries to make a few bucks in a side hustle by lowering the reporting threshold for earnings to only $600. That means tax forms for selling concert tickets to friends or even for the neighbor kid who shovels your driveway. This is a massive administrative state overreach, and it will make tax season even more confusing for small businesses. Americans have the opportunity to make this small business tax stay of execution permanent through their vote in next year’s election.”
