Job Creators Network Credits 26 Governors Who Reduced Unemployment Benefits Early for Strong Jobs Report

Washington, DC (August 6, 2021) — Today, the U.S. Department of Labor released its monthly jobs report. The US economy added 943,000 jobs in July and the unemployment rate fell from 5.9% to 5.4%.

Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN), released the following statement:

“The most important data point from today’s report is that we are we seeing the positive effect of the 26 Governors who reduced the unemployment benefits in their states. These overly-generous benefits, which President Biden signed into law in March, are directly responsible for the national labor shortage that has been hurting small businesses and our entire economy. We thank the 26 Governors who had the courage to reduce the benefits early. Now it’s time for the other Governors to do the same, and under no circumstances should Congress renew the extra benefits when they eventually expire.”
