Job Creators Network Cheers Federal Court Ruling Striking Down Obamacare
Washington, DC (December 15, 2018) – The Job Creators Network issued the following statement today on behalf of President and CEO Alfredo Ortiz in response to a federal court ruling invalidating the Affordable Care Act:
“The Affordable Care Act was built on shaky constitutional ground and this decision might be the end of it. That would be welcomed by small businesses, which have been crushed by higher premiums. Almost a decade after the law passed, the high cost of healthcare remains a serious problem for Main Street job creators. It’s the reason that ten million fewer small businesses are offering insurance to their workers.
“Congress should not wait for this to be settled by the Supreme Court. They should get to work immediately on a new healthcare system that features more consumer choices, more competition, and lower premiums.
“Congress should make association health plans part of the new system so that small businesses can achieve the same economies of scale as large corporations. It should also allow consumers to purchase health insurance across state lines. That would create a true national market and force more competition.”
