Times Square Billboard Calls Out AOC For Bragging About Killing 25k Jobs in NYC

Washington, D.C. (March 6, 2023)—Tomorrow, the Job Creators Network (JCN) is putting up a billboard in Times Square calling out Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for her latest absurd comments. Last week, the congresswoman bragged about her actions in 2019 that squashed Amazon’s plans to build a second headquarters in Queens—a project that would have brought 25,000 new jobs to the area.

What sparked the comments? After Amazon was pushed out of New York City, the company decided to move the project to Virginia. On Friday, Amazon announced it was temporarily pausing construction, but still expects to welcome 8,000 new employees to the facility when the first phase opens this summer.

The billboard reads, “Hey AOC, There You Go Again…Your District Loses Thousands of Jobs and You Take a Victory Lap?” And it continues “Your Math Skills Are Worse Than We Thought.” The billboard features a picture of AOC wearing the infamous “Tax the Rich” dress that she wore to the Met Gala, and builds off a series of billboards JCN previously put up calling out AOC for killing jobs and economic opportunity in her district.

Alfredo Ortiz, JCN President and CEO, released the following statement:

“If Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spent as much time worrying about creating jobs versus killing them, the U.S. economy would be in a lot better shape than it is today. Her recent victory lap over killing thousands of good paying jobs in New York City is only the latest example of her economic ineptitude. Since taking office, she has supported policies that are killing economic opportunity in states like New York, California, and Illinois—incentivizing residents to move to places like Florida and Texas. In fact, for the first time ever, there are more people working in the Sunshine State than in New York, according to federal government data.”
