UNEMPLOYMENT UNCHANGED AT 3.6%
Today, the U.S. Department of Labor released its monthly jobs report. The US economy added 390,000 jobs in May. The unemployment rate remained steady at 3.6%. The labor force participation rate rose from 62.2% to 62.3%.
Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN), released the following statement:
“We are still 822,000 jobs short of pre-pandemic levels because of President Biden’s nonexistent ‘leadership.’ The worst inflation in four decades, caused by Biden’s record spending spree, means that real wages are falling. Inflation continues to be the top concern for small business owners, according to the latest JCN Foundation Small Business IQ Poll. This week, JCN erected a billboard in New York’s Times Square highlighting the long list of Biden’s economic failures with the message, ‘THANKS FOR NOTHING, JOE.’ Biden continues to push for his multi-trillion-dollar ‘Build Back Better’ plan that would send inflation past Jimmy Carter levels and refuses to give small business owners the assurances they need to grow and prosper.
Just yesterday Biden’s own COVID coordinator, Dr. Jha refused to answer the question of whether or not schools would be open in the fall. Without predictable circumstances surrounding child arrangements, people will be unwilling to join the workforce and small businesses will continue to be disproportionately impacted by labor shortages. JCN calls on President Biden to immediately assure American parents that school will be open this fall.”
