Small Businesses Back House Republican Healthcare Plan

Alfredo Ortiz, CEO of Job Creators Network, released the following statement in response to the release of House Republicans’ healthcare bill:

“House Republicans are standing up for small businesses and ordinary Americans by offering a commonsense healthcare plan to reduce premiums and lower costs. The plans’ pro-consumer, pro-market components help families, not big insurance. The highlight of the bill is the overdue expansion of association health plans, which JCN has long supported, allowing small businesses to band together to negotiate far less expensive plans enjoyed by big companies and avoid burdensome insurance regulations. Small businesses and employees can still choose their Obamacare plans if they prefer, but AHPs offer them much-needed choice and alternatives.

“The bill also finally allows employers to offer tax-advantaged funds to help workers purchase their own health coverage, allowing small businesses to get out of the business of health coverage if they choose. And it expands health savings accounts, empowering patients to purchase care directly at a far lower cost than the inflationary third-party payer model. These provisions will finally bend the healthcare cost curve and cut the health coverage anchor holding back so many small businesses. On behalf of Main Street, JCN calls on all House members to support this bill when it comes up for a vote this week.”

Alfredo Ortiz and Grover Norquist have a recent op-ed explaining the benefits of association health plans in the Washington Examiner.
