New York Times Full-Page Ad: Biden is Giving American Universities a Blank Check

Washington, D.C. (February 28, 2023)—On Tuesday, the Job Creators Network Foundation (JCNF) is running a national full-page ad in The New York Times arguing that the Biden administration’s illegal student loan bailout will do nothing to address rising college costs. The ad is running in conjunction with a lawsuit brought by the JCNF Legal Action Fund that argues the plan is illegal. Oral arguments for JCNF’s case are being heard by the U.S. Supreme Court tomorrow.

The ad poses the question, “Why is the Biden Administration Giving American Universities a Blank Check?” and features an image of a blank check paid to the order of “American Universities” signed by Joe Biden. It goes on to read, “Biden’s student loan bailout does nothing to lower tuition or stop universities from taking advantage of unsuspecting families and minorities.”

Elaine Parker, President of the Job Creators Network Foundation, released the following statement:

“Not only is the Biden administration’s student loan bailout illegal, but it will do nothing to address the tuition crisis facing American students. Universities are sitting on $700 billion in endowments but continue to hike prices well beyond the rate of inflation—taking advantage of unsuspecting families and minority students. Forgiving hundreds of billions of dollars in loans will only provide short-term relief while encouraging college administrators to hike prices even more down the road.”
