JUST 235,000 JOBS ADDED IN AUGUST, UNEMPLOYMENT RATE FALLS TO 5.2%, JOB CREATORS NETWORK REACTS
Today, the U.S. Department of Labor released its monthly jobs report. The US economy added only 235,000 jobs in August, far below expectations. Although the unemployment rate fell from 5.4% to 5.2%, the labor force participation rate remained unchanged at 61.7%. The main sectors of growth were professional and business services, transportation and warehousing, private education, manufacturing, and other services.
Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN), released the following statement:
“There are still about 5.5 million Americans who had a job in February 2020 who don’t have one now. We should be seeing stronger job growth, especially with the percentage of Americans fully vaccinated rising to 64%. The Democrats’ overly-generous unemployment benefits have created a nationwide worker shortage – with 10.1 million job openings, an all-time record. The nationwide worker shortage is a Democrat-caused disaster, and so is rampant inflation. The worst inflation in 30 years is a direct result of the Democrats’ spending spree and the ‘Biden pay cut’ will get even worse if Democrats succeed in passing their $3.5 trillion ‘human infrastructure’ bill. That is why JCN is relaunching our national Bring Small Businesses Back Bus Tour on Wednesday, September 8. Our four-week, eight-state bus tour is a direct response to the Democrats’ ‘War on Small Business’ and will advance a positive vision for small business growth and opportunity for all.”
