Job Creators Network Supports Welfare Work Requirements and Elimination of Student Loan Forgiveness

Alfredo Ortiz, president and CEO of Job Creators Network, released the following statement on the latest in the debt ceiling fight:

“Small businesses and the American public overwhelmingly support work requirements for able-bodied individuals in return for welfare. This trade follows the basic principle that you shouldn’t get something for nothing. Small businesses are still struggling with unfilled positions and could use this influx of people into the labor force, boosting the labor force participation rate, which remains well below its pre-pandemic level.Given the importance of this reform, JCN included it as one pillar in our American Small Business Prosperity Plan, an eight-point policy playbook to bring small businesses and the economy back. Even President Biden seems open to making this commonsense reform.

“In contrast, Biden claims Republicans’ demand that his student loan bailout be stopped is off the table. Yet this may be a moot point. We sued to block the student loan forgiveness, and the Supreme Court will rule on our case soon. Legal experts expect the court to strike down this executive overreach. Doing so will set the stage for effective reform that addresses the root cause of the student loan crisis: college overcharging.”
