Job Creators Network Statement on May Jobs Report

Alfredo Ortiz, CEO of Job Creators Network, released the following statement in response to the May jobs report, which showed 172,000 jobs created, the unemployment rate remain at 4.3%, and the labor force participation rate remain at 61.8%:

“Friday’s jobs numbers confirm what small businesses already know: The underlying economy is far stronger than the mainstream media and financial commentators suggest. In addition to the strong topline number, job creation in the previous two months was revised up by 93,000, painting a much healthier picture of the labor market. The leisure and hospitality sector created 70,000 jobs last month, and bars and restaurants added 48,000, demonstrating a fast start to the summer hiring season.

“America’s strong labor market is the result of good public policy, such as tax cuts and deregulation, which are driving small business creation to record levels. These policies are helping job creators and consumers overcome the temporary headwinds of high gas prices and inflation. When these costs recede, American small businesses will be in a position to lead the country into its next economic boom. Congressional Republicans can help with a reconciliation package that doubles down on last year’s tax cut victories.”
