Job Creators Network Slams AOC’s Green New Deal
Washington, DC (April 20, 2021) — Today, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) reintroduced a resolution in support of the Green New Deal.
Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN), released the following statement:
“The Green New Deal is really a Green Raw deal. The socialist policies that would be needed to achieve it would devastate our economy and fuel government spending and debt to record heights. Small businesses are already reeling from a year of government-imposed lockdowns and the Green New Deal is the last thing they need. Senator Markey, who is introducing the resolution with AOC, declined to vote for it in 2019. If the Green New Deal is such a good plan, why did he decline to vote for it two years ago? JCN helped lead the fight against AOC’s first Green New Deal and we will help lead the fight against this version. President Biden promised during the campaign that he would unveil his own version of the Green New Deal. We know Biden doesn’t want to disappoint AOC and his left-wing base, so today’s resolution might be an early preview of the next phase of Biden’s disastrous agenda.”
In 2019, JCN helped lead the fight against AOC’s first version of the Green New Deal, including erecting a billboard in the heart of Times Square (link to release). Later, a Senate resolution supporting the Green New Deal was defeated 57-0.
