Job Creators Network Reacts to Weekly Unemployment Claims Report
Washington, DC – (June 11, 2020) — New data released by the Department of Labor reveals the number of first-time unemployment claims was 1.542 million last week.
Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN), released the following statement:
“There is a growing evidence that America is starting to turn the corner, and the Paycheck Protection Program is the biggest reason why. This week, the Washington Post said the PPP is ‘suddenly looking like a measured success,’ which is high praise by that paper’s standard. The reality is that any program that saves 50 million jobs is a huge success, and last week President Trump signed important legislation that makes PPP even stronger. The next step to rebuild our economy is to encourage Americans who are frightened of Covid-19 to start going out and safely reengage society. JCN is doing its part by launching the ‘Flatten the Fear’ campaign, which puts a microphone in front of doctors who are warning of the negative health effects of the lockdown and the importance of reopening and reengaging. We’ve put up a billboard in Times Square, ran a commercial on Fox Business, taken out a full-page ad in the New York Times, and we will be using additional media platforms as the campaign continues. With about 44 million Americans collecting unemployment and needing work, we are going to continue pushing hard on this issue.”
On June 5, Breitbart ran an op-ed by Mr. Ortiz and Dr. C.L. Gray titled Flatten the Covid-19 Fear. To read their op-ed, click here.
