Job Creators Network Reacts to Weekly Unemployment Claims Report

Washington, DC (December 3, 2020) — New data released by the Department of Labor reveals the number of first-time unemployment claims was 712,000 last week.

Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN)released the following statement:

“The reality is becoming clear: With states beginning a new wave of lockdowns, small businesses will need help to get through the winter.  Renewing the Paycheck Protection Program should be Congress’ highest priority and they need to get it done before the end of the year.  This week, JCN launched ‘Operation May Day’ – a multi-media campaign to build grassroots support and activate voters for PPP legislation. The first round of PPP loans saved 51 million jobs. A new round of loans can keep small businesses afloat until May, when things should start getting back to normal. The President has already said he will sign a PPP extension, but the Democrats continue to hold it hostage to fund a left-wing wish list. The Democrats nearly lost the House during the last election because their party was seen as too extreme.  For the House moderates who survived their races, our message is simple: ‘This is your moment to shine.  Stand up for small businesses and get a PPP bill passed now!’”

This week, RealClearPolitics.com published Mr. Ortiz’s op-ed, Pass PPP as a Small-Business Bridge to Post-Vaccine Future. To read it, click here.
