Job Creators Network Reacts to Weekly Unemployment Claims Report

Washington, DC (November 19, 2020) — New data released by the Department of Labor reveals the number of first-time unemployment claims was 742,000 last week.

Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN)released the following statement:

“The ‘V-shaped recovery’ is continuing, thanks to President Trump’s pro-growth policies, his commitment to safely reopen society, and his relentless efforts to remove government obstacles to developing a vaccine.  Now, Dr. Michael Osterholm, a coronavirus advisor to Joe Biden is pushing for a new national lockdown that would erase all the gains we’ve experienced during the past few months. What’s especially galling is that Biden repeatedly claimed during the campaign that he would not impose a new lockdown. ‘I’m going to shut down the virus, not the country,’ Biden said repeatedly. Biden should listen to small business owners who are strenuously opposed to a new lockdown. What we need is a new stimulus bill – one that renews the Paycheck Protection Program that has already saved 51 million jobs. Speaker Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are continuing to play hardball – saying the $3.4 trillion ‘Heroes Act’ should be the ‘starting point’ for negotiations.  That’s outrageous. Leader McConnell has a better approach – one that is focused on stimulating the private sector, not bailing out Blue State governments.  The time for compromise is now.  No more delays, no more excuses.”
