Job Creators Network Reacts to Weekly Unemployment Claims Report

Washington, DC (September 10, 2020) — New data released by the Department of Labor reveals the number of first-time unemployment claims was 884,000 last week.

Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN)released the following statement:

“Since the pandemic peaked, we have gained 10.6 million jobs – more than during the entire Obama Administration. This is a tribute to President Trump’s leadership and his commitment to safely reopening the economy. Governors and mayors who persist with draconian restrictions should listen to the health experts who say Americans can safely reengage with society.  Congress has a role to play too. The Senate should pass Leader McConnell’s new stimulus bill that would extend and expand the Paycheck Protection Program. The PPP has been a lifeline for small businesses, saving 51 million jobs, but it expired over a month ago.  Senate Democrats are promising to filibuster that bill, holding out for Nancy Pelosi’s bloated $3 trillion stimulus that has less to do with helping the economy and more to do with bailing out Democratic politicians and donors.  Congress also need fix a ‘tax glitch’ with PPP that might cost small businesses roughly $120 billion in taxes.  If Congress won’t act, President Trump should issue an executive order clarifying PPP funds are tax-free.  We have a lot of economic momentum, but to get back to real prosperity, we need Democrats at all levels – Congress, governors, and mayors – to put politics aside and empower our small business community. JCN’s ‘Keep America America’ campaign is focusing on these types of issues to motivate conservatives in the largest ‘get out the vote’ effort in conservative history.”
