Job Creators Network Reacts to Record Jobs Report

Washington, DC (July 2, 2020) — Today, the U.S. Department of Labor released its monthly jobs report.

Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN)released the following statement:

“In June, the unemployment rate fell to 11.1 percent and 4.8 million Americans regained their jobs. This record jobs report, with especially strong gains in manufacturing employment, is a big step in the right direction as America overcomes the worst public health emergency in over a century. The number vindicates President Trump’s prediction that the recovery will be swift and ‘V’-shaped. The jobs growth also proves JCN’s assertion that another massive federal stimulus is not necessary. Rather, Congress should double-down on job-creating policies by passing a temporary, targeted payroll tax cut for businesses with fewer than 100 employees and ‘employment assurance’ benefits to incentivize employees to get back to work and off unemployment. Additional federal unemployment insurance must not be extended past July. Doing so would cost millions of jobs and threaten the pace of this recovery. We need to keep Americans working and getting back to work. States can’t reverse course in their reopenings. We can safeguard the most vulnerable, but society can’t afford a broad shutdown again.”
