Job Creators Network Reacts to Obamacare Court Ruling
Washington, D.C. (December 18, 2019)— The U.S. Court of Appeals struck down part of the Affordable Care Act today, ruling that its requirement that most Americans carry health insurance is unconstitutional while sending back to a lower court the question of whether the rest of the law can stand without it.
Alfredo Ortiz, president and CEO of the Job Creators Network, and Dr. Tom Price, former Secretary of Health and Human Services, released the following statement:
“This ruling now sets up an opportunity for conservatives and Republicans to run on an outstanding alternative to Obamacare called Healthcare for You, which has been gleaned through input from over 20,000 patients, doctors, small business owners, health benefits managers, and healthcare providers. They reject Medicare for All because it destroys the doctor-patient relationship, which has been severely undermined by Obamacare as Americans were lied to when they were told, ‘You can keep your doctor.’ Healthcare for you is personalized healthcare that keeps bureaucrats and lobbyists from getting between you and your doctor. Healthcare for You will lower insurance premiums through increased choice and price transparency; expand personal health management accounts to give patients more control over their healthcare dollars; expand Direct Medical Care to increase choices and lower costs, and lower drug prices. All while ensuring everyone is covered, including those with pre-existing conditions. Conservatives and Republicans must take up this cause now because Medicare for All will be a worse disaster than Obamacare.”
Last week, Mr. Ortiz and Dr. Price co-authored an op-ed in USA Today predicting today’s ruling and calling on conservatives and Republicans to use Healthcare for You as their reform framework. To read their op-ed, please click here.
