Job Creators Network Praises Mnuchin for Getting Payroll Tax Cut in GOP Stimulus Bill

Washington, DC (July 21, 2020) — According to Treasury Secretary Mnuchin, a payroll tax cut is in the Republican stimulus bill. On Friday, Job Creators Network (JCN) sent a letter to Senate leaders urging them to include a targeted, temporary payroll tax cut in the bill.

Alfredo Ortiz, JCN President and CEO, released the following statement:

“Treasury Secretary Mnuchin deserves tremendous credit for getting a payroll tax cut in the Republican stimulus bill. When the Secretary supports something, he doesn’t just say it, he does the heavy lifting behind the scenes to make it happen. When it comes to the payroll tax cut, Secretary Mnuchin will get it done.  JCN will continue working closely with him and congressional leaders to make sure the bill the President signs into law includes it.”

According to JCN’s letter, a payroll tax cut “would put thousands of dollars back in the pockets of ordinary workers” and “create between 2 million and 3 million new jobs by year-end.”
