Job Creators Network Praises Administration Guidance Shielding Small Business Owners from Democrats’ Mistake

Washington, DC (May 4, 2020) — According to new guidance released by the Small Business Administration (SBA), small business owners who take out loans through the Paycheck Protection Program will not have their forgiveness amount reduced if they laid off an employee, offered to rehire the same employee, but then the employee declined the offer.

Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Networkreleased the following statement:

“It’s a shame Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi perversely created a program that makes government assistance more attractive than a job. When Republicans wanted to remove this section of the CARES Act, Democrats threatened to delay the bill, which would have been disastrous. We thank the Trump administration for making sure job creators aren’t punished for the Democrats’ mistake. Small business owners are on the economic frontlines of the battle against coronavirus, and we must do everything we can to support them during this difficult time.”
