Washington, DC (October 7, 2020) — Tonight, Vice President Pence and Senator Kamala Harris held their first and only debate of the 2020 campaign.

“Vice President Pence exposed the lies and hypocrisy of the Biden-Harris tax plan. Senator Harris laughably claimed that President Trump’s tax cuts hurt our economy, when in fact, they caused the greatest economic boom in history.  Repealing the Trump tax cuts would stiff the American people with a $4 trillion tax bill.  And yet Harris, in another laughable moment, said most Americans won’t pay more under their plan.  Harris’ contradictions are laughable, but the real-world consequences are not. Raising taxes by $4 trillion would be catastrophic with more than 20 million Americans out of work because of the pandemic.  The only way to fully recover is to continue reopening our society and keep pushing President Trump’s pro-growth policies. The Biden-Harris agenda – on issues ranging from the Green New Deal to healthcare to possible future lockdowns – would be a catastrophe for our small business community and all Americans.  Vice President Pence forcefully made that case, and he unquestionably won tonight’s debate.”
