(Atlanta, GA) Job Creators Network (JCN) today is pleased to announce the creation of a National Women’s Coalition (NWC) a new initiative aimed at broadening the organization’s mission and giving added voice to women business leaders around the country.
“We recognize that women represent a valuable, specialized group of business and industry leaders,” said Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of Job Creators Network. “We wanted to create an opportunity for those who are well-positioned to leverage from each others’ ideas, input and vision on behalf of all women-run businesses.”
JCN CEO leaders Carly Fiorina and Heidi Ganahl have been named co-chairpersons of the NWC. As the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, Fiorina is the first woman CEO of a Fortune 50 business and current chairman of the Unlocking Potential Project. Ganahl is the CEO of Camp Bow Wow, the largest pet care franchise in North America.
“For the first time in US history, more small businesses are failing than forming,” said Fiorina. “Small businesses across America are being crushed because only a big business can handle big government. And small businesses create most of our new jobs.”
“As a franchisor, I see access to capital and draconian rules coming from the National Labor Relations Board as threats to the very business model that’s allowed me to grow and create jobs for so many people,” said Ganahl. “The more people who understand this, the better situated we are as a whole to hold onto our economic freedom.”
With their fingers on the pulse of the nation’s women business leaders, NWC board members will help raise awareness about the impact of government policies on businesses and employees in a variety of ways including op-eds, speaking engagements and media interviews.
“As respected business leaders and entrepreneurs, Carly and Heidi understand the challenges to economic freedom that stem from government policies,” Ortiz added. “We are especially pleased to have two women who have taken very different paths toward the American Dream now working side by side to bring attention to the problems job creators face. Theirs are corporate and small business success stories coming together to show what is possible if we can overcome these problems.”
Women owned business make up the fastest growing segment of the American economy, totaling more than ten million companies which generated $1.4 trillion in sales in 2014 alone.
“Clearly this is an enterprising segment of our economy that deserves every networking and educational resource available,” Ortiz said. “That’s where the National Women’s Coalition comes in, with the full support and resources of Job Creators Network.”
JCN is currently adding to the National Women’s Coalition Board of Directors. Notable members so far include CEO member Dawn Sweeney, who is also president of the National Restaurant Association.
“As the nation’s second largest private-sector employer, the restaurant industry provides tremendous opportunity for women entrepreneurs,” said Sweeney. “In fact, half of all restaurants in the United States are owned or co-owned by women. The goal of National Women’s Coalition – to help spread awareness of the impact legislation and regulation has on businesses – is critically important to the hundreds of thousands of women running restaurants, which operate on slim profit margins in a heavily regulated environment.”
