Job Creators Network: Dems Should Work with POTUS on Border Security

Shutdown is a temporary problem, but open border is a crisis, says Job Creators Network

Washington, DC (January 9, 2019) – The Job Creators Network today issued the following statement on behalf of President and CEO Alfredo Ortiz urging congressional Democrats to end the shutdown by working with President Trump to address the humanitarian and security crisis at the border:

“The shutdown is a temporary problem, but the situation at the border is a genuine crisis. Thousands of migrants and especially children are being exploited by criminal organizations. Thousands of people with criminal records are coming into our communities every year. Drugs coming from Mexico are killing thousands of Americans. The drugs are also affecting the labor market. Americans who become addicted to drugs can’t keep a job, can’t support their families, and can’t contribute to society. That’s a big problem for employers that no one is talking about.

“This is unsustainable. The President is right to force Congress to address a problem that both parties have ignored for decades. If the Democrats care about border security, as they say, then they should work with the President in good faith and stop using the shutdown for political advantage.”
