Job Creators Network Calls on Virginia Legislature and Fellow Governors to Support and Follow Gov. Youngkin’s Gas Tax Suspension
Alfredo Ortiz, president and CEO of Job Creators Network, released the following statement in response to Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s request that the state legislature vote on his plan to suspend the state’s gas tax of 26 cents per gallon for 90 days:
“Gov. Youngkin is standing up for ordinary Virginians contending with record-high gas prices by taking clear and effective action to reduce their pain at the pump. By suspending the state gas tax, Youngkin is helping state residents overcome runaway gas prices that act as a painful regressive tax, leaving residents with less money to spend at small businesses and on their families. Youngkin’s leadership stands in stark contrast to President Biden’s inaction on skyrocketing gas prices, for which his administration is responsible due to its numerous regulations on oil production and transport. The Virginia legislature should swiftly support Youngkin’s much-needed tax cut, and America’s governors should follow his lead to help all Americans deal with Bidenflation.”
