Job Creators Network Calls on Congress to Pass PPP Extension Today
(Washington D.C.) — Alfredo Ortiz, president and CEO of the Job Creators Network, released the following statement in response to reports that Congress is coalescing around a new Covid-19 legislative compromise:
“Congress must stop letting the pursuit of perfection be the enemy of the good and pass commonsense Covid-19 legislation today that extends the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). American small businesses are reeling from the latest surge in Covid-19 cases and related state and local restrictions on business activity. They need this PPP lifeline now to keep their business dreams alive and their workers receiving paychecks. Obstructionist Congressional Democrats should pause their demands for a blue state bailout and focus on the pressing need of helping Main Street survive. With Covid-19 vaccinations beginning today, small businesses only need to make it a few more months before they can get back to business-as-usual and benefit from American consumers’ pent-up demand. Extending the PPP, as bipartisan Congressional leaders have proposed, will help small businesses get from here to there. Let’s get it done today.”
