Job Creators Network Calls for Bipartisan Election Reform Ahead of H.R. 1 Senate Rules Committee Hearing

Washington, DC (March 24, 2021) — Today, the Senate Rules Committee will hold a hearing on H.R. 1 – a controversial election reform bill being pushed by Democrats.

Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN), released the following statement:

“We need bipartisan, common-sense solutions to strengthen our voting system, but H.R. 1 is not the answer.  Among other things, H.R. 1 abolishes state voter ID laws, even though 77 percent of Americans support voter ID laws, according to a poll by Honest Elections Project. If H.R. 1 passes the Senate, it will give Democrats a permanent leg up in future elections and substantially increase their chances of passing left-wing legislation.  H.R. 1 threatens the existence of political and grassroots groups because it requires nonprofits to disclose the names of their significant donors. This would send ‘cancel culture’ into overdrive as outed donors would be de-platformed and blacklisted.  This is a feature, not a bug, of H.R. 1, which amounts to a federal takeover of state elections to the advantage of Democrats.  This is a time of choosing for ‘centrist’ Democrats like Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema. They should be working with Republican Senators on a bipartisan election reform bill that truly enhances the security of our elections.”
