Job Creators Network Blasts Democrat Wish List, Thinly Veiled as a Covid Relief Bill

Washington, D.C. (February 26, 2021)— Today, the House will vote on President Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill, also known as the “American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.”

Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN), released the following statement:

“The Democrat’s latest ‘covid’ relief bill should be renamed; with only 9% of the nearly $2 trillion being used on actual covid spending and 1% for vaccines, the majority of taxpayer money will instead go to fund the Democrats’ ever-expanding liberal wish list. Unless Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer would like to explain how a $112 million Silicon Valley tunnel or $1.5 million bridge in New York qualifies as covid relief, I think it’s about time Democrats stop using a pandemic to pass bloated bills full of special interest handouts. If there was any doubt about the wastefulness of Biden’s bill, just look at the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) recent analysis of the plan. CBO found that more than $700 billion won’t even be spent until 2022, and of the $170 billion for education –despite there being no plan to reopen schools– only 4% will be spent this year, with some funds sitting in limbo until 2029. In the House bill’s current state, it also raises the minimum wage to $15 an hour, a move being lobbied by Amazon. While this won’t be in the Senate bill, it is a slap in the face to all small businesses that Democrats are still pushing for a wage increase that will kill up to 2.7 million jobs, as a CBO report stated. It should be abundantly clear: this thinly veiled covid relief bill is nothing more than a slush fund for Democrats’ numerous pet projects that will hurt Americans and small businesses.”
