Job Creators Network applauds Senate passage of Criminal Justice Reform Bill

Washington, DC (December 19, 2018) – The Job Creators Network today issued the following statement on behalf of President and CEO Alfredo Ortiz in response to the Senate’s passage last night of the First Step Act:

“Because of the strong economy we have an acute labor shortage, and small businesses are struggling to find workers. This legislation invests millions of dollars in training programs for inmates who will be able to gain employment and contribute to society after they have served their time.

“Convicted felons who can acquire job skills and get a job when they are released are less likely to commit future crimes. They’ll be able to support themselves and their families, pay taxes, and contribute to their communities. This makes good economic sense and it’s the right thing to do.

“We congratulate President Trump and leaders in the Senate on both sides for this strongly bi-partisan victory. We urge members on both sides of the aisle in the House to pass the bill as soon as possible and send it to the President for his signature.”
