JCNF Files Amicus Brief Arguing SCOTUS Should Rein in Government Agency Overreach

Washington, D.C. (July 24, 2023)—Today, the Job Creators Network Foundation Legal Action Fund filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court in the case of Loper Bright Enterprises v. Gina Raimondo, Secretary of Commerce.  JCNF argues the court should reverse the lower court’s decision and overrule the Chevron deference doctrine, which would make it easier for courts in the future to rein in executive overreach.

Karen Harned, Chief Legal Officer of the JCNF Legal Action Fund, released the following statement:

“The JCNF Legal Action Fund is on the front lines of fighting government overreach—notably helping to spearhead the recent effort to block the Biden administration’s illegal student loan bailout. Now, the Supreme Court has the opportunity to overrule a judicial standard that has given federal government agencies the runway to become de facto lawmaking bodies. Siding with Loper Bright Enterprises will help restore the constitutional separation of powers between the legislative and executive branches of government.”
