JCN Activates Grassroots Support, Directs More Than 10,000 Letters to Congress Advocating for The Prove It Act
Washington, D.C. (June 8, 2023)—Today, the Job Creators Network (JCN) announced it has activated grassroots supporters to send more than 10,000 letters to Congress pushing for passage of The Prove It Act—legislation that would help to address the spools of government red tape that are strangling small business job creators. Introduced by Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) in May, the legislation supports a key pillar of JCN’s American Small Business Prosperity Plan—an eight-point policy blueprint Congress should follow to supercharge Main Street.
The Prove It Act would provide small businesses and the organizations representing their interests a seat at the table when government regulators are weighing whether a proposed rule would have a negative impact on entrepreneurs. Small businesses would then be exempt from any proposed rule in which an agency fails to meaningfully participate in the petition process.
Broadly, the bill will require government agencies to consider the costs small businesses would face as a result of proposed regulations.
Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network, released the following statement:
“Small businesses are under the thumb of burdensome government regulations—a compliance challenge that threatens job creation, wage increases, and economic opportunity on Main Street. The Prove It Act constitutes a strong first step in tackling the problem and we thank the thousands of grassroots supporters who educated their elected leaders in Washington on the topic. I applaud Senator Joni Ernst for introducing the legislation and urge other lawmakers to get behind the effort.”
