It’s Baldwin Who Wants to Sabotage Healthcare, Says the Job Creators Network

Senator’s bill to outlaw affordable health insurance plans threatens small businesses and employees, according to small business group

Washington, DC (August 29, 2018) – A bill introduced by Democrat senator Tammy Baldwin (Wisconsin) would rob small businesses and their employees of an affordable health insurance option, said the Job Creators Network today.

“She’s the one who is sabotaging affordable healthcare,” said JCN President and CEO Alfredo Ortiz. “Her bill would outlaw an affordable option to the Obamacare plans that very few small businesses and employees can afford.”

Baldwin today introduced a bill that would overturn a Trump administration regulatory change expanding short-term health insurance policies. The policies, which would be exempt from some of the costliest Obamacare mandates, would offer basic healthcare coverage at lower prices.

“The number of small businesses offering health insurance to workers has declined sharply under Obamacare,” said Ortiz. “The main reason is cost. Short-term plans allow Americans to buy basic protection that they could not otherwise afford. Senator Baldwin should explain why she does not want small businesses and employees in her state to have that option.”

Baldwin said she is aiming to force a vote on the bill this year, a move that the rest of the Senate should reject, said Ortiz.

“The Affordable Care Act made health insurance more expensive and more complicated, especially for small businesses. The Trump administration is trying to undo some of that damage with Association Health Plans and short-term coverage. Senators on both sides of the aisle who care about small business and affordable healthcare should oppose the Baldwin bill.”
