Home Depot Co-Founder Bernie Marcus Honored by The Latino Coalition with Lifetime Achievement Award
Washington, DC (October 2, 2018) – The Latino Coalition (TLC), a nationwide advocacy group for Hispanic-owned businesses, today will recognize Home Depot Co-Founder Bernie Marcus with its Lifetime Achievement Award for decades of philanthropy for hospitals, religious organizations, and education through the Marcus Foundation.
“He also co-founded the Job Creators Network, a group whose purpose is to be the voice of small business owners from across the country and educate employees, the public and lawmakers about the impact of bad government policies on our job creators, workers and the broader economy,” said TLC Chairman Hector Barreto.
Marcus, who is also co-founder of the Job Creators Network (JCN), a nationwide advocacy group for small businesses, will be honored later today at The Hispanic Heritage Month Power Gala and Awards Ceremony in Washington, DC.
Accepting the Award on behalf of Marcus, who cannot attend the event, will be JCN President Alfredo Ortiz. Marcus started JCN to educate small businesses and their employees about the importance of good public policy. The Home Depot founder often says that if he had to start his business today, it would be much more difficult because of excessive regulation and taxation.
“Bernie is more than ready to continue the fight and ensure that aspiring entrepreneurs today are given the same shot at success he was given many years ago,” said Ortiz.
