Hearing on “Universal Healthcare” Shows Too Many Members of Congress Want Government-Run Healthcare
Washington, D.C. (December 10, 2019)— Today, the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee held a hearing entitled, “Proposals to Achieve Universal Healthcare Coverage.”
Elaine Parker, president of the Job Creators Network Foundation (JCNF), released the following statement:
“Whether you call it ‘universal healthcare,’ ‘Medicare for All,’ or ‘the public option,’ the fact is, too many Members of Congress are pushing a government takeover of America’s healthcare system – either immediately or gradually. Under ‘Medicare for All,’ almost 200 million Americans would lose their private health insurance with a stroke of a pen. The ‘public option” is no better; it’s a step on the way to ‘Medicare for All” – a ‘Trojan Horse.’ No private company can compete against the government, which means that private insurance will eventually collapse. Americans do not want government-run healthcare, and yet they are fed up with the status quo. As an alternative, JCNF has created ‘Healthcare for You,’ a seven-part framework for healthcare reform that has been endorsed by Newt Gingrich and seven governors and was produced with the input of 25,000 Americans – the largest healthcare market research ever conducted.”
