Former HHS Secretary Dr. Tom Price Reacts to Affordable Care Act Surviving Latest Challenge in Supreme Court

Washington, D.C. (June 17, 2021)- Today, the Supreme Court dismissed a challenge to the Affordable Care Act.

Dr. Tom Price, former Secretary of Health and Human Services and a senior healthcare policy fellow at the Job Creators Network released the following statement:

“We are disappointed that the Supreme Court chose yet again to duck the question of constitutionality of Obamacare by ruling today that the plaintiffs lack standing. As Justice Breyer noted, the court’s decision isn’t based on the case’s merits or whether or not the law is valid, leaving the door open for another similar challenge in the future with an appropriate plaintiff. While Obamacare’s constitutionality remains debatable, its policy impact is not. Obamacare’s regulations and taxes have dramatically raised healthcare prices and made healthcare unaffordable for many ordinary American families. To lower healthcare costs and increase access, personalized healthcare reforms are desperately needed. The Job Creators Network Foundation’s Healthcare For You framework would implement a series of patient-centered reforms that put patients and doctors, not government bureaucrats, in charge of healthcare decisions, restoring the doctor-patient relationship and increasing choices and competition. Today’s Supreme Court decision adds new urgency to this grassroots effort to fix the broken American healthcare system.”
