Conservative Coalition Letter Praises House Republican Tax Bill and Urges Continued Opposition to Proposed Tax Hikes
Washington, D.C. (May 13, 2025)—As the House Ways and Means Committee meets to mark up tax cuts legislation today, a coalition of free market groups is praising the bill and urging Republican lawmakers to continue opposing misguided proposals to increase marginal tax rates, a move that would devastate small business job creators. The coalition’s letter, organized by Job Creators Network, is signed by nearly 20 organizations and was sent to Congressional Republicans Tuesday morning. The letter applauds House Republicans for increasing the crucial small business tax deduction from 20 percent to 23 percent.
Letter signees include Alfredo Ortiz of the Job Creators Network, Ralph Reed of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform, Bill Mathis of the Coalition of Franchisee Associations, Lisa Nelson of ALEC Action, and Steve Moore of Unleash Prosperity and Heritage Foundation, among others. Alfredo Ortiz, Job Creators Network Chief Executive Officer, released the following statement:
“Conservatives strongly support House Republicans’ tax bill, including its opposition to misguided calls to raise marginal tax rates, a move that would devastate small business job creators. Conservatives and small businesses particularly applaud the bill’s proposal to increase the small business tax deduction from 20 percent to 23 percent. Lawmakers must resist pressure in negotiations in the weeks ahead to boost individual tax rates, which the vast majority of small businesses pay. Making the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent, including the lower individual tax rates, and expanding key Main Street provisions will help ring in the next Golden Age of American prosperity.”
