Job Creators Network: Committee Hearing on $15 Minimum Wage is “Alarming”

Washington, DC (February 7, 2019) – Alfredo Ortiz, president and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN), issued the following statement after the House Education and Labor Committee held a hearing titled “Gradually Raising the Minimum Wage to $15: Good for Workers, Good for Businesses, and Good for the Economy.”

Today’s hearing is alarming because it’s the latest evidence that Democrat leaders are dead serious about doubling the minimum wage to $15. Nearly every economist agrees that such a move would devastate small businesses and potentially destroy up to 750,000 jobs.  The economy is booming under President Trump because he is reducing regulatory burdens, not increasing them.   The greatest threat to our economy today is a Democrat House that is pushing an extreme, far-left agenda, which starts with a minimum wage hike, but also features a big tax hike and a government takeover of healthcare known as ‘Medicare for All.’  Socialism takes, capitalism creates.  It’s time for reasonable Democrats to resist this madness and put a stop to it.
