Capitals and Wizards’ Move from D.C. to Virginia Shows Impact of Great Opportunity Project Policies
Alfredo Ortiz, president and CEO of Job Creators Network, released the following statement on Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s plan to move the Washington Capitals and Wizards to Virginia:
“Pro-opportunity states continue to draw investment, capital, and people from big government states. The Capitals and Wizards’ planned move to Virginia is just the latest example. Congratulations to Gov. Youngkin for attracting and brokering this planned move that is expected to create 30,000 jobs and billions of dollars in economic activity. While pro-business policies helped attract the Capitals and Wizards to Virginia, anti-business policies in Washington D.C. helped drive them away. This District’s high crime and high taxes are chasing out businesses big and small to the other side of the Potomac. Other big government, Democrat-controlled jurisdictions such as New York, Illinois, and California are similarly losing people and businesses to pro-opportunity states such as Florida, Tennessee, Nevada, and Texas. JCN’s Great Opportunity Project seeks to identify the policies working at the state and local level and expand them nationwide. Gov. Youngkin’s success in Virginia, exemplified by the Capitals and Wizards’ planned move, is Exhibit A.”
