ALERT: FIRST-TIME JOBLESS CLAIMS HIT 547,000, JOB CREATORS NETWORK REACTS

The Department of Labor revealed the number of first-time unemployment claims was 547,000 last week.

“The Democrats’ war on small business is continuing,” said Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN). “This week, AOC and Senator Markey introduced their new version of the Green New Deal that would socialize and bankrupt our economy.  President Biden praised the Green New Deal during the campaign, and we every reason to believe he will co-opt parts of their plan to appease his left-wing base. Biden’s tax-spend-and-boycott agenda is already having a negative impact on our small business community that is still reeling from the pandemic. Our economy should be booming with the fast pace of vaccinations, but there is tremendous uncertainty because of the Democrats’ agenda. Republicans in Congress should know that opposing that agenda – not co-opting it – should be their most important mission.  Senator Romney’s recent decision to support an $11 minimum wage is an example of what not to do.  According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, a $11 minimum wage will destroy up to 600,000 jobs. This is a time for principled leadership, not panicked ‘me-tooism.’  JCN will actively oppose the Romney-Sinema bill, AOC’s Green New Deal, and any legislation that will make it harder for America’s small business community to lead our economic comeback.”

This week, JCN sent a letter to Senators Romney and Sinema opposing their bill to raise the federal minimum wage to $11 per hour.  Every U.S. Senator was CC’d.  To read it, click here.

In 2019, JCN helped lead the fight against the first version of the Green New Deal, including erecting a billboard in the heart of Times Square (link to release). Later, a Senate resolution supporting the Green New Deal was defeated 57-0.
