ALERT: BIDEN RAISING MINIMUM WAGE FOR FEDERAL CONTRACTORS TO $15 PER HOUR, JOB CREATORS NETWORK REACTS

Today, President Biden is signing an executive order that raises the minimum wage for federal contractors from $10.95 to $15 per hour. This is part of the Administration’s push to raise the minimum wage for all workers to $15.

“President Biden is using every means at his disposal to raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour,” said Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN). “Federal contractors are – by definition – private sector employees, so raising the minimum wage will be a job killer for a crucial part of our economy. A $15 minimum wage will eliminate up to 2.7 million jobs, according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office.  A better solution is expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), supplementing the wages of low-income workers through the tax code.  As President Biden nears his first 100 days in office, he is waging new fronts in his war against small business. Congressional Republicans and centrist Democrats must hold the line and fight every job-killing bill the Administration proposes.”

Last week, JCN sent a letter to Senators Romney and Sinema opposing their bill to raise the federal minimum wage to $11 per hour.  Every U.S. Senator was CC’d.  To read it, click here.
