ALERT: BIDEN BLOCKS GIG-WORKER RULE, JOB CREATORS NETWORK REACTS

Today, the Labor Department said it is blocking the previous administration’s rule making it easier to classify gig workers and others as independent contractors.

“The Biden Administration is continuing its war on small business,” said Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network (JCN). “By changing the rules on gig workers, the Administration is making our labor force less flexible and more costly. This is part of a wider campaign by the Administration to trample employee rights and strengthen unions. The PRO Act, for example, would outlaw millions of small businesses operating as freelancers and change the rules around franchises.  This anti-worker campaign is especially dumbfounding when small businesses are fighting to claw back from the worst pandemic in a century.  Whether it’s taxes, the minimum wage, organized boycotts, or numerous other issues, it’s clear the Biden Administration is not interested in letting small businesses lead America’s recovery. The President and his team just want to make everyone more dependent on government – a fundamental transformation of our country that it will make it unrecognizable.”

Last week, JCN released a backgrounder, “Biden and the Democrats’ War on Small Business.” The backgrounder summarizes the Democrats’ job-killing agenda in four areas: taxes, the minimum wage, lockdowns, and the PRO Act. To read it, click here.
