Pass the Prove It Act
On December 5th, the House of Representatives passed the Prove It Act which requires federal agencies to follow the law and analyze the impacts of their regulations on small businesses, and it nullifies rules that don’t follow this process. It gives small businesses a seat at the table in federal rulemaking and is a crucial component of the broader deregulation effort.
But it’s not over the finish line yet – now it heads to the Senate. This should be a priority for every lawmaker who values American small business.
The nation can eliminate the deficit if legislators can merely return spending to its pre-COVID baseline. With Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy’s DOGE team already working hard to identify smart spending cuts, this is a very attainable goal. Republicans are right to call for spending cuts but wrong to hold up the TCJA that small businesses so desperately need.
Speaker Johnson’s approach to getting this done quickly in one bill demonstrates strong leadership and is the right move from a political and policy perspective.
