Job Creators Network Reacts to Weekly Unemployment Claims
Washington, D.C. (March 26, 2020)—New data released by the Department of Labor reveals the number of first-time unemployment claims jumped to 3.3 million—an all-time high. The increase is a result of the public health crisis plaguing economies around the world.
Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of the Job Creators Network, released the following statement:
“As expected, the number of initial jobless claims soared last week—highlighting the devastating impact the coronavirus outbreak is having on American workers and the businesses that employ them. Luckily, the U.S. Senate just unanimously passed the CARES Act, which will act as a lifeline to America’s job creators and those most affected by the public health emergency—especially small businesses. The legislation is a targeted, short term effort that will help America weather the challenges ahead and prepare us to fire-up the economic engines once the crisis passes. I urge the House to swiftly pass the bill so Americans can receive the help they so desperately need.”
