The Latin Builders Association (LBA) announced the opening of the LBA Construction and Business Management Academy Charter High School in June of 2012. This is the first time a business association ever partnered with Miami Dade County Public Schools to open and operate a district-managed charter academy. The LBA Construction and Business Management Academy Charter High School offers high school students the opportunity to earn their diploma, industry certifications, college credits, and even own their own business, concurrently.
The academy is complimentary to attend for all registered students. The business leaders of the LBA are committed to serve as mentors to the students and offer internships in order to gain real life experiences, and even future employment opportunities. Students have the ability to plan and create their very own business, with the guidance of established industry leaders. The ultimate goal is to prepare the students to graduate with the ability to open and maintain their own businesses. On May 1, 2014, JCN founder Bernie Marcus toured the school and spoke with the students about entrepreneurship.
