Recognizing the demand for a quality manufacturer of kitchen ventilation equipment, Bob purchased a sheet metal shop in 1981 and transformed that into CaptiveAire Systems. Today, CaptiveAire employs over 500 people with sixty offices nationwide and sales reaching close to $200 million in 2009. Bob continues to apply his entrepreneurial skills not only in his business, but also in the public sector. His support of North Carolina entrepreneurs and the free market system are demonstrated through his roles in the following areas: Board of Directors & Founder, The Franklin Academy; Board of Directors, John Locke Foundation; and Founder & Developer, Franklin Park.

The key to job creation is F.A. Hayek’s “Spontaneous Cooperation”, which requires the least possible government interference in the market. American job growth has been driven for two centuries by unfettered entrepreneurship, which has created the highest living standard in the world.
